Indianapolis entrepreneur and civic leader Bill Oesterle, who has been involved in the development of multiple companies and community efforts, will receive TechPoint’s Trailblazer Award during the upcoming Mira Awards gala. The Trailblazer Award recognizes visionaries “whose contributions have had lasting and significant impact on the state and its technology ecosystem.”

On the business front, Oesterle was one of the cofounders of home services website Angie’s List, which is now known as Angi. In recent years, he co-founded Indy-based TMap whose platform MakeMyMove helps communities attract workers through incentives.

Civically, he helped launch the Governor Orr Indiana Entrepreneurial Fellowship to address “brain drain.” TechPoint says Oesterle is also an “outspoken champion” for human rights and equity.

“Bill’s career has had many chapters, but a common thread has been a vision and conviction for improving Indiana and creating opportunities for Hoosiers,” said Mike Langellier, TechPoint president and chief executive officer. “He saw a big opportunity for Angie’s List and grew a market leading company here. He saw the need for transformational state political leadership and championed Mitch Daniels’ election. He’s a visionary, and he took risks—both professional and personal—that benefited our community and inspired others, including me.”

The Mira Awards Gala is set for April 23. It celebrates the best of tech in Indiana each year, including recognizing people, products and companies for their outstanding achievements.
