The Wastewater Treatment Plant and Indiana Solar Thermal Water Heater grants are expected to create an estimated $125,000 in annual savings.
Marion Utilities and the city of Kokomo each received $100,000 in WTP grants while the town of Nashville received just over $32,000. The OED says the WTP grants can alleviate the impact of rising energy rates by reducing energy demand and recovering wasted heat.
Minnich Poultry, based in Portland, received over $37,000 from the ISTWH grant, which helps food and beverage processors purchase solar hot water heaters to lower their energy bills and diversify energy resources.
"These grants support Governor Pence’s all-the-above approach to energy by spurring growth and employment in Indiana," said OED Director Tristan Vance. "Through these programs we are able to save energy, reduce costs, and improve our state’s economic competitiveness."
