The Office of Community and Rural Affairs this week announced a new round of funding for an ongoing program bringing better internet access to Hoosiers.
OCRA is awarding a little over $378,000 to 93 addresses over 19 counties as part of the 12th round of funding in the Indiana Connectivity Program. The program’s goal is to expand access to broadband for rural Indiana residents by helping subsidize internet providers to extend service lines in areas they otherwise might not.
In a press release, OCRA says internet providers are adding over $275,000 in investment in addition to the state money. Of the addresses getting funding this round, 88 are private homes and five are businesses.

“Congratulations to the residents and business owners taking advantage of this important program,” OCRA Executive Director Duke Bennett said in the release. “Connecting Hoosiers with each other throughout the state and with those around the world is paramount in making progress in Indiana.”
The $378,000 OCRA is awarding this week comes after the agency put out $3.3 million in funding in July and another $1.5 million in October.
Applications for broadband access are accepted on a rolling basis. Residents or business interested in the program can go to the Next Level Connections portal to apply.
