Can Indiana Be ‘The Hub’ For Women Entrepreneurs?

WomenIN will establish a supportive network and give program participants access to Purdue Foundry resources, which include online workshops, entrepreneur-in-residence assistance and educational opportunities. By the end of next year, WomenIN lead and Foundry Entrepreneurial Programs Manager Juliana Casavan says the goal is to have five hubs and 100 participants throughout Indiana.
She hopes the initiative will play a role in turning Indiana into "the hub" of entrepreneurship and startups supporting women.
Casavan says women "are just a little bit newer to the entrepreneurship ‘game’" than men, and this program can help make up some of that ground. "Purdue University and the Purdue Foundry are at the forefront of this movement, and we have the ability to activate a change in women’s involvement in entrepreneurship."
The program is in startup mode itself, with a full launch set to take place in January. Casavan says potential major partners could includes some of the dozens of co-working spaces located throughout the state.
