Oakland City University Begins Commons Project

Ground has been broken at the site of Oakland City University’s Boulevard Commons project. The work is a component of the southwest region’s Indiana Regional Cities Initiative.
The project includes construction of a new 33,000 sq. ft. student housing center, that will include 1,750 sq. ft. of retail space. The two-story complex will accommodate approximately 100 students and will also create a new corridor into the University. Indiana’s Regional Cities Initiative pumped $2.2 million into the project. "We are fulfilling the dream and vision of many, creating a gateway to Southwest Indiana through enriched educational opportunities and community collaboration," said OCU president Dr. Ray Barber.
Plans also call for a mixed-use alumni lodge to be built on campus. The 13,000 square foot building will provide overnight accommodations for guests, a conference center, and hospitality suite.
