The co-host of NPR’s Morning Edition will return to his home state of Indiana this spring. Steve Inskeep, a native of Carmel, will give the commencement address for the University of Indianapolis on May 7.
Inskeep joined NPR in 1996 and became part of Morning Edition in 2004. He has won several awards for his journalism work and has authored two books, the most recent of which is Jacksonland, a history of President Andrew Jackson’s long-running conflict with Cherokee chief John Ross in the 1830s.
Inskeep will join singer, actress, broadcaster and fellow Indiana native Jearlyn Steele, along with Gene Zink of Indianapolis-based Strategic Capital Partners as recipients of honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees.
The commencement ceremony will be held at UIndy’s Key Stadium on May 7 at 11:00 a.m.
