Notre Dame Works to Boost Research in The West Bank

A $1 million grant for the University of Notre Dame is designed to spur economic growth in a highly-contested territory in the Middle East. The funds from the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative will help boost the number of research engagement opportunities in the West Bank. The university, through its Keough School of Global Affairs-affiliated Notre Dame Initiative for Global Development, will host residencies to bring together researchers from the West Bank and Notre Dame.

NDIGD Executive Director Michael Sweikar says "we hope to work with as many West Bank universities as possible on this initiative. The ultimate goal of this project is to leverage existing talent within higher education, the private sector and civil society. We want to foster collaboration among researchers through the creation of a research network."
