The funding from the Chicago-based Spencer Foundation will support research on the program’s effects on students and schools.
The center says the three-year initiative will examine data and draw comparisons among public, charter and private schools. The research will address issues including the effects of vouchers and charter schools on student performance and achievement gaps.
It will also examine the organizational structures, professional development and parental involvement at the three types of schools.
The Spencer Foundation funds research focusing on improving education.
