Mark Berends has been promoted to associate vice president for research at the University of Notre Dame. He has been on the faculty since 2009, most recently serving as professor of sociology and director of the Center for Research on Educational Opportunity. His research focuses on educational reform, school choice, the effects of schools and classrooms on student achievement.
