University of Notre Dame Professor Diane Desierto has been named chair-rapporteur of the United Nations’ Expert Group on the Right to Development. She serves as a professor of law and global affairs in the Keough School of Global Affairs. Desierto was chosen by the U.N. Human Rights Council and the U.N. Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to shepherd the finalization of the Draft Convention on the Right to Development, which she co-authored.
