University of Notre Dame Associate Professor Perin Gürel has won the Jack Rosenbalm Prize for American Humor for her essay “Amerikan Jokes: The Translational Politics of Unlaughter in Turkey”. She is an associate professor in American Studies and concurrent associate professor in Gender Studies. Gürel holds a bachelor’s degree from University of California Berkeley and doctorate from Yale University.
