Michael Pippenger will serve as vice president and associate provost for internationalization and Mike Seamon has been promoted to vice president for campus safety and event management.
Pippenger will come to Notre Dame from Columbia University where he currently serves as dean of undergraduate global programs and assistant vice president for international education. He will succeed J. Nicholas Entrikin, who is retiring this summer. Pippenger will begin September 1. He will be responsible for broadening the university’s international culture, programs, reach and reputation. Notre Dame says during his time at Columbia, Pippenger created a centralized office for undergraduate global education and led the administration of 22 study abroad programs.
He holds master’s and doctoral degrees in English literature from Indiana University.
Mike Seamon is currently associate vice president for campus safety at Notre Dame. He will be the first selected for his new position. Seamon will lead Notre Dame Security Police, the Notre Dame Fire Department, the Risk Management and Safety Department and football Game Day Operations and emergency management. He will also oversee multiple event space-related roles. Seamon will unify the processes associated with major event management and be active in coordinating major events including commencement, alumni reunion weekend, football game day operations, Junior Parents Weekend and University milestone celebrations.
He previously served as director of sales and marketing for Major League Baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays. Seamon is a Notre Dame graduate.
