Subscribe NowAt its annual meeting in Hammond, the Northwest Indiana Forum celebrated its efforts in 2016 to bring nearly 1,200 jobs to the region. The nonprofit economic development organization also elected its 2017 board of directors.
The Portage-based organization says it was involved in 60 leads for business attraction or expansion efforts in the region, 26 of which came directly to the forum. The rest came from the Indiana Economic Development Corp. or other economic development agencies. The Forum also hosted nearly 200 meetings with site selectors, brokers and developers to showcase the region’s advantages for economic development.
The Northwest Indiana Forum says plans in 2017 call for the continuation of work to attract businesses to the region, including through the launch of a new website. Chief Executive Officer Heather Ennis says these efforts "will allow Northwest Indiana to compete in a global economy."
The organization also elected 16 members to its board, including seven new members. They include:
