South Bend-based Beacon Health System is expanding its footprint across state lines as it agrees to acquire Three Rivers Health, a system with one hospital and 16 clinics in southern Michigan.
The two systems have signed a Letter of Intent to have Three Rivers join the Indiana-based health system by next spring.
“This really was a natural fit for us, and absolutely the best option for patients. As part of Beacon Health System, our communities will have even greater access to convenient, high-quality health care close to home,” said Dave Shannon, president and chief executive officer of Three Rivers Health.
Among its facilities, Beacon Health operates Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Elkhart General Hospital, Community Hospital of Bremen.
Three Rivers Health is a 60-bed facility serving St. Joseph and Kalamazoo counties in Michigan.
