Opportunity Enterprises Inc. in Valparaiso says it has created and filled 70 staff positions over the past five months. The nonprofit, which serves children and adults with disabilities, expects more growth in the coming year.

News Release

Valparaiso, Ind. — Opportunity Enterprises recently hired their 500th employee, just one more milestone in an exciting surge of growth and change for the local non-profit. In the past five months, 70 new staff positions have been created and filled at OE, and more growth is anticipated for 2014.

Thanks to the recent increase in staff, OE is now ranked as the fifth largest employer in Porter County, moving up from its eighth place position. The continual demand for the services that OE offers and the closure of the ARC of Northwest Indiana’s group homes has led to a swell in enrollment at OE. OE now serves over 1,100 children and adults with disabilities at locations across the Northwest Indiana region.

“It has been a great few months for OE. Our Lakeside facility is occupied, we added 20 new residents to our supported living program, we opened a new respite home in Merrillville, and we increased the enrollment in all of our programs. Families continue to look to OE for support for their loved ones with disabilities and we have been expanding to meet their needs,” said David Stupay, President and CEO of Opportunity Enterprises.

Stupay continued, “We have an awesome team that remains committed to serving the people in our care and providing the highest quality of services to those that depend on us. The program expansion and growth in our staff ensures that every person with a disability in the region has an opportunity to get the support they need to live a fulfilling life.”

If you want to join the OE team and participate in the exciting growth that will continue through the new year, apply for one of the many positions listed at www.oppent.org/employment.
