Governor Eric Holcomb requested the assessment in December following the resignation of former DCS Director Mary Beth Bonaventura.
The nonprofit provided two progress reports on the evaluation in February and March and cited several challenges facing the department, including the need for an automated data system, an increasing number of children in out-of-home care, proper training for DCS case managers and supervisors, and customer service.
Bonaventura resigned in a scathing letter that criticized the Holcomb administration for cutting funding to the agency. Holcomb appointed Terry Stigdon as Bonaventura’s successor at the same time he called for the independent assessment of the DCS.
Both Holcomb and Stigdon will speak at Monday’s presentation, which is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. You can view a live stream of the presentation by clicking here.
