A more than 50-year-old Fort Wayne nonprofit is changing its name. Anthony Wayne Services will be called Benchmark Human Services. The organization has grown to include programs in Georgia, New Jersey, Tennessee and Washington D.C. December 16, 2014

News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Anthony Wayne Services (AWS), will change its name to Benchmark Human Services, effective January 1, 2015. This is simply a name change. Ownership and leadership of the company is not changing.

In 2010, AWS launched Benchmark Human Services to take the AWS model of services and expertise to new program and geographic areas. Since then, Benchmark has started or expanded programs in Georgia, New Jersey, Tennessee and the District of Columbia. Because of Benchmark’s robust growth, and because we feel the name Benchmark Human Services better tells our story, we feel the time is right to embrace a new name and new brand.

We anticipate a seamless transition for all involved parties including the individuals we serve, parents/guardians, our employees, and business associates. We will continue to carry out our mission and provide the same high quality services that enable individuals with disabilities live as independently as possible, be included in their community and function at their maximum potential.

About our organization

AWS was founded in 1960 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where our headquarters remains. We serve individuals through the life cycle, from infancy to elder years. Programs support people at work, at home and in the community through residential, vocational, therapeutic, in-home, crisis response and day services. We specialize in serving people with intense medical needs and high behaviors, including those with forensic backgrounds. AWS extends this expertise as a consultant for state governments and private organizations in evaluating facilities, systems development, staff training and numerous other areas.

Our 3,200 employees serve more than 8,500 individuals with disabilities and mental illness throughout the United States.

For more information, please contact Courtney Hartman, Director of Communications, at (260) 207-5608 or chartman@benchmarkhs.com. Learn more about AWS and Benchmark by visiting www.BenchmarkHS.com.
