Noblesville Manufacturer Moving Forward on Big Expansion

Noblesville-based SMC Corp. of America is planning to double its Hamilton County footprint and add more than 90 jobs by 2022. The company, which is the largest private-sector employer in the city, is looking to invest $67 million into the expansion. The Noblesville Common Council Tuesday approved preliminary resolutions involving 10-year tax abatement for the subsidiary of SMC Corp. of Japan.
The investment, the automated control technology maker says, will also retain 954 jobs. In a filing with the city, SMC Corp. says the new positions will pay an average of more than $26.50 per hour. Expansion plans call for one million square-feet of new space and will help increase manufacturing capacity and shift some functions on the campus. The company established its American headquarters in Noblesville in 2009.
