(NYSE: CMI) announced plans to build a 100,000-square-foot information technology hub in Greenwood. But according to our partners at the Daily Journal, the $35 million project remains on hold.
The facility, to be located along I-65 and County Line Road, is expected to bring 500 jobs to the Johnson County city.
The publication says the delay seems to stem from the COVID-19 pandemic. The company saw a drop in profits during the first and second quarters, due in part to the healthcare crisis.
Cummins spokesperson Jon Mills told the publication last week the company and Greenwood are still in discussions, but the company had no new details to share.
The city of Greenwood offered the company $10 million in tax incentives. The paper reports the city already spent $7.7 million to buy 85 acres of land for the Cummins project and other developments.
