Poseyville-based Nix Metals has announced plans to acquire Superior Fabrication Inc. in Rockport. Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed, however the company expects the deal to close by the end of the month.
Nix Metals says, once the acquisition is complete, Superior Fabrication will continue to operate out of its Rockport facility as an independent division of Nix. Superior is currently hiring for four positions and Nix says it "hopes to add several more positions over the next year due to growth."
Superior Fabrication provides structural steel fabrication services for the commercial construction and heavy industrial markets. Matthew Nix, president of Nix Companies Inc., says strong operational synergies between the two companies led his company to pursue the acquisition.
"While we excel in the industrial market, Superior excels in the commercial construction market. Where we are stronger in design to build and heavily customized fabrication, they excel in larger runs of structural fabrication," said Nix. "Additionally, our coatings company, Nix Coatings, currently provides powder coating and heavy industrial coatings which will complement Superior’s services."
Superior Fabrication founder Curtis Drake will remain with the company as the division’s operations manager for at least a three-to-five-year period, according to Nix.
