NIRPC Details Long-Term Planning Feedback

The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission says feedback through public meetings, social media and online surveys has led to some tweaks to its NWI 2050 strategic plan. The organization says it will consider revisions to its vision statement and goals. The staff will next work toward recommending the "critical paths" needed to complete the plans objectives.
The plan focuses on "trends and influences to identify strategies and investments to achieve the vision for the region." On Friday, NIRPC will launch Summer Pop-Up events throughout the region to provide more information about the plan. The schedule includes:
- August 10 – South Shore Summer Music Festival at Wolf Lake Pavilion in Hammond
- August 11 – South Shore Summer Music Festival at Peter G Memorial Park in Schererville
- August 12 – Miller Beach Farmer’s Market at intersection of S. Lake St. & Rt. 12 in Gary
- August 14 – Taco Tuesday at Marquette Park Pavilion in Gary
- August 25 – La Porte Farmer’s Market at the corner of Monroe & Lincolnway in La Porte
- August 28 – Valparaiso Farmer’s Market at 63 Lafayette St. in Valpo
- August 30 – New Durham European Market at the north junction of Hwy 2 & 421 in Westville
- September 1 – Michigan City Farmer’s Market at 8th & Washington St. in Michigan City
