Fishers, Noblesville and Hamilton County will move ahead with plans to allow for rail banking the entire line that runs from Indianapolis to Tipton.
The three entities will also formalize a trails use agreement, which will enable willing communities along the rail line to convert to trail within their territory. The City of Fishers announced immediate plans to convert to trail from 96th street to 146th Street.
Fishers and Noblesville officials originally announced plans for the Nickel Plate Trail in February 2017. Earlier this week, the city of Fishers unveiled its Nickel Plate Trail Master Planning Committee, which plans to release a Request For Proposals for the design of the trail next month.
