A global data protection platform is providing funding to six STEM-related organizations, including Nextech in Indianapolis. Carbonite Inc. (Nasdaq: CARB) awarded the grants to the organizations through its Carbonite Charitable fund to support STEM programs and student development. The funding totals $150,000, including $25,000 for Nextech.

Nextech provides technical, critical thinking and problem-solving curriculum for K-12 students to help them pursue careers in technology. Last year, the organization launched the Nextech Educator Externship to help middle and high school teachers connect their classroom curriculum to tech-related career opportunities and student interests.

The other organizations to receive Carbonite Charitable Fund investments include:

Hack.Diversity – A Boston-area regional initiative to identify, develop and place black and Latino tech professionals into the city’s fastest-growing companies.

100Kin10 – A national network of institutions, companies, agencies and foundations that will prepare 100,000 excellent STEM teachers to enter America’s classrooms by 2021

Girl Develop It – A national organization that provides affordable programs for adult women interested in learning web and software development in a judgment-free environment

Resilient Coders – A regional program in Boston that trains people of color for high growth careers as software engineers, and connects them with technology jobs

Utah STEM Foundation – An affiliation with the Utah STEM Action Center to enhance STEM funding and resource opportunities for teachers and students state-wide
