In a blog posting, the Indianapolis Newspaper Guild outlines 11 layoffs at the paper. The organization says the cuts do not include reporters. Publisher Karen Crotchfelt had no comment to Inside INdiana Business. The guild says this is the fifth round of layoffs in the past five years. In the posting, the organization says the cuts include three copy editors, three clerks, two custodians, a part-time photographer, a part-time graphic artist and an assistant calendar editor.
In an August interview on Inside INdiana Business Television, Crotchfelt says the state's largest paper is adapting to a digitally-focused marketplace, but does not anticipate reducing its seven-day-a-week publishing schedule.
