Downtown Indy and the Indiana Union Construction Industry have announced plans to host the second annual New Year’s Eve community celebration.
This year’s event will feature food and drink, fireworks and live entertainment including DJ Kap Slap. Instead of having a ball drop, Downtown Indy will once again have an IndyCar descend during the countdown to 2016.
“This event is ideal for Downtown and especially Georgia Street. The addition of this large scale New Year’s Eve event last year spelled great success for Downtown bars, restaurants and hotels. In fact, Visit Indy reported a 24.1 percent increase in hotel revenue for Dec. 31, 2014 compared to Dec. 31, 2013 stating that Dec. 31, 2014 set an all-time record high for Downtown hotel demand, occupancy and revenue for New Year’s Eve. Now that’s definitely worth repeating,” Downtown Indy President Sherry Seiwert said.
Downtown Indy says last year’s celebration drew more than 22,000 people.
