The 434th Communications Squadron is now being led by Lt. Col. David O’Neill, who comes to Grissom from Scott Air Force Base near St. Louis.
O’Neill takes over for 434th Mission Support Group Commander Col. Scott Russell, who says he’s confident the right choice was made.
“This is someone who wants to command, someone who wants to take care of people, someone who’s going to look out for our Airmen,” Russell said.
O’Neil fills a vacancy that Col. Scott Russell, 434th Mission Support Group Commander, said wasn’t easy to fill. After an extensive search, Russell says he’s confident O’Neil is the right choice as Commander.
Lt. Col. O’Neill has served in joint information operations with a specialization in cyber warfare. “Cyber is a growing capability the squadron is new to, and I am so looking forward to helping build that capability,” O’Neil said.
O’Neill will direct communications and cyber activities for the 434th Refueling Wing.
