The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne reports plans from the buyer, H1 Elite Investment Group, involve transforming the building into a residential and commercial construction training center.
The board had been seeking a higher amount for the school, but over the last seven weeks, approved steps to allow less to be accepted. The district closed the school, which was also known as Heritage Elementary School, four years ago.
The publication reports H1 representative Kareem Hunter said programs at the "one-stop hub for training" could begin by January 1. Hunter said plans could include renovations to the roof, classrooms and gymnasium, which could potentially be home to some athletic opportunities according to The Journal Gazette.
