Two additional nonstop flights are coming to Indianapolis International Airport. The Allegiant (Nasdaq: ALGT) destinations include Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, a long-coveted market by Indiana’s tech community. The new routes plus one nonstop announced last week to San Diego International Airport bring the total number of nonstops at IND to 46.
Allegiant will also begin nonstop flights to Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport. Both new routes will begin in May.
The Austin flight opens the region up to more of one of the country’s hottest tech markets, which is also a conference and convention destination. Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez says "these flights are highly valuable to the Indianapolis market, particularly with direct reach into Austin. Austin is one of our top five unserved destinations, and the Allegiant flight will give Indianapolis not only new access to the Central Texas region, but will expand our reach into the Western United States."
Flights to Austin will begin May 19, running twice a week. Destin/Fort Walton will also fly twice weekly, but will run on a seasonal schedule from May 26 through August 15.
