Steve Barnett has been sworn into office, succeeding Joe McGuinness, who was selected by Governor Eric Holcomb to be commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Barnett had served in the role on an interim basis and was previously president of the city council and a member of the city’s board of public works. He was voted into the position by a majority of local Republican Party precinct committee members.
Barnett will finish out the three remaining years of McGunness’s term.
