The Ports of Indiana has selected an Indiana native as the new director for the Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville. Jeff Miles, who most recently served on the senior executive team for the North Carolina State Ports Authority, succeeds Scott Stewart, who stepped down in January.
Originally from Dearborn County, Miles served in a number of positions with the North Carolina agency, including chief operating officer, deputy executive director and interim chief executive officer. He also spent 10 years as the general manager of container operations at the South Carolina State Ports Authority.
In his new role, Miles will be responsible for leading port operations and business development in Jeffersonville.
"Jeff’s extensive port operations and leadership experience, coupled with his background in strategic planning, perfectly position our Jeffersonville port for continued growth," said Rich Cooper, CEO of the Ports of Indiana.
The Port of Indiana-Jeffersonville handles more than 2 million tons of cargo annually and supports 13,000 jobs.
