WFYI Public Media has announced Indiana Public Broadcasting Reporter Brandon Smith will take over hosting duties of the longtime political program Indiana Week in Review. Smith succeeds Jim Shella, who is retiring next month after more than 25 years as host.

Lloyd Wright, president and chief executive officer of WFYI, says Shella played a "vital role in building Indiana Week in Review into the lively program it is today." Wright says he is excited to bring Smith, who serves as IPB’s Statehouse bureau chief, on board as host in early December.

"WFYI is committed to providing our community with impactful programming, and Indiana Week in Review is a show that will continue," Wright said. "With his work at the Statehouse since 2011, Brandon brings a unique skillset to ensure Indiana Week in Review continues to provide discussions of important topics each week."

Shella announced his retirement from WISH-TV in Indianapolis last month after 34 years. His last Indiana Week in Review broadcast will air November 25.
