An innovative culinary space has launched in Floyd County. MESA, A Collaborative Kitchen is located in New Albany and it includes space for cooking classes, demonstrations, to-go meal service and a book store.

The start-up secured a $50,000 loan from the Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County’s Revolving Loan Fund. The fund’s executive director Jerry Finn says several restaurants in the area have been supported in the same way. "MESA really offered a unique combination of four-star dining and experiential learning," he said. "With MESA’s success, the location will become a culinary hub for the region’s highly talented chef population to share their love of food with the public and each other."

Owners Bobby and Ysha Bass say MESA has been receiving private party requests since last month. They add "the community and the Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County have been extremely supportive of MESA, A Collaborative Kitchen, and we would like to thank both, as well as Julie Rigrish at the Southeast ISBDC and One Southern Indiana for believing in this business’ potential."

MESA says it will work with chefs, restaurateurs and investors on menu development and the space will be available to be reserved for events and private parties, as well as public demonstrations, chef tastings, birthday, anniversary and retirement parties, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and corporate gatherings.
