South Shore Funders consists of representatives from government agencies, corporations and foundations seeking to improve quality of life through strategic grant making and provision of resources.
The group had its first meeting and discussed each organization’s grant-making policies, investment goals and priorities as well as challenges faced by nonprofit agencies. One of the goals of South Shore Funders is to provide a structure for collaboration among agencies, facilitate synergy and reduce duplicated efforts.
“The South Shore Funders meeting provided a great opportunity for local not-for-profits to meet and interact with numerous foundations and local funding sources to learn more about existing and upcoming funding opportunities that can help support programs and projects that contribute to the improvement of the quality of life in Northwest Indiana,” said Tim Cottingham, director of Greater Hammond Community Services Inc.
The meeting was the first in a series of round table events South Shore Funders will hold. The group says it is open to all public and private foundations, government agencies and businesses engaging in grant-making activities in northern Indiana.
