New CEO for United Way of St. Joseph County

United Way of St. Joseph County has tapped Mark Herriman to serve as its new president and CEO, the organization announced Monday. Herriman has been serving in the role on an interim basis since late April.
Herriman joined the organization in 2017 as a member of the board of directors. He served as board chair from 2019 to 2021 and was later named executive vice president to lead the development of neighborhood centers in the organization’s service area.
He previously served as interim CEO from June to December 2023 and was named chief operating officer in January 2024.
“Mark knows this community and local leaders know him,” Kimberly Green Reeves, chair of the United Way of St. Joseph County board of directors, said in a news release. “This county is his home and he is passionate about alleviating poverty and increasing opportunities for community members who live paycheck to paycheck.”
The United Way said among Herriman’s first goals as CEO will be raise the remaining $1.5 million needed for the $7 million Mishawaka Neighborhood Center, which is slated to open in 2026.
“Every year, our United Way chooses a theme, and this year’s selection couldn’t be more appropriate: United is the way,” Herriman said. “For more than 100 years, the United Way has convened local partners to reduce poverty and tackle the underlying conditions that cause it. In St. Joseph County, we pitch in. I look forward to working with my fellow community partners to tackle what’s ahead.”
Herriman succeeds Jamie Cox, who left the organization in April.
