Mishawaka-based Franciscan Alliance says Patrick Maloney will take over as president and chief executive officer of the Franciscan Health hospitals in Dyer, Hammond and Munster beginning October 31.
Maloney, who currently serves as CEO of two Illinois hospitals the Tenet Healthcare system, succeeds Mathew Teolis, who has served as interim CEO since May. Franciscan says Teolis will continue in his usual role as vice president of medical affairs once Maloney begins his new role.
"Patrick Maloney is the perfect blend of everything that we look for in a visionary leader," said Kevin Leahy, CEO of Franciscan Alliance. "He has a proven ability to implement an initiative without ever losing sight of what is truly important – the health and welfare of the patients that we are privileged to serve."
Franciscan says during Maloney’s time at Tenet, the health system saw a decrease in readmissions and an increase in patients seeking care in obstetrics, acute rehabilitation and bariatric surgery.
