New business center opens in Gary’s Miller Beach community

A retired physician is looking to help other businesses in Gary with the opening of a new business center in Miller Beach.
The Shelby Street Business Center is located on the city’s north side, and it’s owned by Steve Simpson. The center has room for four companies and already has two occupants in house.
In a press release, Simpson said he wants to give local businesses a chance to get off the ground.
“There are lots of business owners in this area who simply need a space to conduct business, host meetings and elevate their brands,” said Simpson.
Simpson says the business center has a conference room, a kitchenette, a reception area and individual mailboxes for tenants. The two unoccupied spaces are available to rent.
According to the Indiana University School of Medicine, Simpson spent close to four years as a pediatrician practicing in the Gary area. He is also involved with efforts to improve literacy and reading in the community.
