During a news conference in the Tippecanoe County city Tuesday, Mayor Tony Roswarski said "the Prospect League has been targeting Lafayette and Loeb Stadium for three years now. The Greater Lafayette area is a great fit inside our footprint and compliments nicely with Kokomo as well as our other Indiana and eastern Illinois territories."
MKE Chief Executive Officer Michael Zimmerman said the company evaluated other markets for the expansion team, but "Lafayette stood out above them all."
City-owned Loeb Stadium, which will be the team’s home park was dedicated in 1940. It’s currently where the Jefferson High School baseball teams play, as well as youth league, American Legion and other high school games and tournaments.
