New Albany CPA firm marks 100 years, names new CEO

As it marks its 100th anniversary in 2025, New Albany-based public accounting and business consulting firm Monroe Shine & Co. has named Phillip Beaman its new president and CEO.
Beaman joined the firm as an accountant in 1999 and most recently served as partner and director of tax and estate planning.
“Reaching 100 years is an incredible milestone that speaks to our commitment to our clients, our people, and our community,” Beaman said in a news release. “Our firm has built a legacy of trust, excellence, and service spanning generations, and I am honored to step into this leadership role at such an exciting time in our firm’s history.”
Beaman succeeds Butch Shaw, who will remain with the firm as a shareholder and continue to work with a variety of clients, the firm said.
“[Butch’s] impact on Monroe Shine has been immeasurable, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside him as he remains a valued shareholder and integral part of our firm,” Beaman said. “We will continue to build on our strong foundation of client service and community involvement, with even more exciting announcements coming later this year.”
Monroe Shine was founded in 1925 in downtown New Albany by William Stein as a one-person accounting practice. It has since grown to a staff of more than 75 people with a second office on the east side of Louisville, Kentucky.
The firm plans to announce more information regarding its 100th anniversary celebration in the coming months.
