New Airport Offering to Bring Local Flavor

The Farmers’ Market will feature food, beverages and brands from the Hoosier state with the help of Indiana Grown.
The Indianapolis Airport Authority announced earlier this month the addition of The Farmers’ Market as part of its Concessions Refresh initiative. Virginia-based SSP America Inc. will manage the 3,300-square-foot location and consult with Indiana Grown to feature a wide variety of locally-sourced products.
The Farmers’ Market will feature a sit-down dining area where they can order from a full-service menu. It will also have a selection of products that can be purchased to go. The full list of products that will be available is still being developed.
"The Farmers’ Market will give people from all over the world the chance to experience and enjoy a taste of Indiana," Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch said in a news release. "We have everything from small town favorites to top selling national brands, and this market will allow us to share some of these products with the world."
Indiana Grown is a branding program from the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. The ISDA says the partnership to open a retail dining destination at an airport between a private company like SSP America and a statewide local branding program like Indiana Grown is the first of its kind in the country.
Construction on The Farmers’ Market is expected to begin this year, though a timeline for its opening has not yet been finalized.
