The chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts is set to visit Indianapolis next week. Jane Chu will tour the Indianapolis Art Center and give a presentation at a symposium on the IUPUI campus. February 25, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – NEA Chairman Jane Chu will visit Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 6-7, 2015. Her trip will include a site visit to the Indianapolis Art Center on March 6 and remarks at Indiana University's symposium on community engagement and development through the arts on March 7. Chairman Chu received her PhD in philanthropic studies from Indiana University. As part of her trip she will meet with Indiana University students and faculty as well as NEA grantees in Indiana. On March 6 at 3:00pm, she will visit the Indianapolis Art Center, recipient of a 2014 NEA grant for the summer exhibition series: storytellers.

On Saturday, March 7, Indiana University will hold a symposium on community engagement and development through the arts, led by led by arts administration faculty at the IU Bloomington School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA). Following two panel discussions, Chairman Chu will give remarks about the direction of the NEA as it relates to creative placemaking, including trends and plans for the future. The symposium is open to the public, but organizers request attendees RSVP to soprsvp@iupui.edu. More information about the symposium can be found here.
