The Southwest Indiana Small Business Development Center is being recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The regional organization is this year’s Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award honoree in the state.
The Southwest ISBDC is a part of the Southwest Indiana Chamber of Commerce and it provides one-on-one advising services for entrepreneurs in an eight-county region.
Southwest Indiana Chamber Chief Executive Officer Christy Gillenwater says "the unbridled spirit of entrepreneurship that the Southwest ISBDC team bolsters in Southwest Indiana is positioning our region as a globally competitive place to work, live, and grow a business. As the long-time host of the Southwest ISBDC, we couldn’t be more proud of the accomplishments of Kim and her team as they accept the prestigious Excellence and Innovation Award."
The Southwest ISBDC says its clients have invested more than $20 million and started over 70 businesses during the last five years. Last year, it partnered with the chamber to launch the Family Business Alliance, which allows family enterprises to tap into national and regional resources and expertise.
SBA Indiana District Director Stacey Poynter says "the Southwest ISBDC provides a vast array of technical assistance and is a vital resource for small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs. I congratulate Kim Howard and her team for their demonstrated excellence in providing value to small businesses and advancing the ISBDC program delivery through innovation."
Southwest ISBDC team members will receive the award May 4 in Indianapolis.
