NASA Exhibit Opening in Hammond

The Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond will play host to a special exhibit. The NASA Traveling Exhibit, titled "Inspiring the Future: The Legacy of Exploration," will be featured from January 28 to March 22.
The interactive exhibit features artifacts, models and kiosks with storyboards and pictures of NASA’s historic missions. It also features an International Space Station model and display, a showcase of the NASA space suit and a solar system scale to show how much a person would weigh in space.
January 28 is the 30th anniversary of the Challenger accident and there will be an opening reception at the Welcome Center that evening. The reception will feature a presentation from astronaut Gregory Harbaugh celebrating NASA’s achievements and honoring the fallen astronauts from the explosion.
Harbaugh is a four-time spaceflight veteran and a Purdue graduate. He worked at NASA from 1978 to 2001.
Both the opening reception and the exhibit itself are open to the public. You can click here for more information.
