MSA Plan Part of Downtown Housing Growth

Construction on the 300 luxury apartments is expected to begin next spring. During a recent appearance on our INsiders segment on Inside INdiana Business Television, The Whitsett Group LLC Principal Joe Whitsett said there has been a trend of more people wanting to call downtown home, especially since the 2012 Super Bowl. The $81 million tower, being developed by Indianapolis-based Flaherty & Collins Properties, is slated to include 300 apartments.
Indianapolis Downtown Inc. President Sherry Siewert says Indianapolis needs to continue to develop housing options for young professionals, who tend to desire a “connected city” and cultural amenities. She says downtown is becoming “almost a neighborhood,” so the city must look at features that Millenials want such as public parks and dog parks.
Indianapolis Downtown Inc. Development Consultant and Urban Initiatives Principal Brad Hurt joined Whitsett and Siewert on the panel.
