Pacers Sports & Entertainment Vice Chairman Jim Morris is the recipient of the 2015 Mitch Daniels Leadership Prize. Officials with the Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation say the award is in recognition of Morris’ civic leadership and efforts to fight hunger and infant mortality throughout the world.
As part of the honor, Morris will recommend an individual or organization to receive a $100,000 cash award from the foundation. He was selected by a panel of eight community leaders, chaired by retired Chief Justice of the Indiana Supreme Court Randall Shepard.
Morris has worked in various leadership roles at Pacers Sports & Entertainment for nearly 10 years. His previous roles include president of Lilly Endowment Inc. and CEO of IWC Resources Corp. and Indianapolis Water Co. He also served as executive director of the United Nations World Food Programme in Rome from 2002-2007.
The Mitch Daniels Leadership Prize is awarded every two years. The 2013 award went to former Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) Chief Executive Officer Tim Solso. The $50,000 grant went to Earl Martin Phalen of Summer Advantage USA and Reach Out and Read.
