Merrillville-based MonoSol LLC will Thursday cut the ribbon on its new $72 million manufacturing facility in Lebanon. Governor Eric Holcomb and Lebanon Mayor Matt Gentry will be on hand to celebrate the opening of the 150,000-square-foot building.

MonoSol broke ground on the facility in September 2018. When the project was first announced, the company said it would add 89 high-wage jobs by the end of 2020. More than 50 employees have already been hired.

MonoSol is a subsidiary of Japan-based Kuraray. The company manufactures water-soluble films used in products such as detergent pods. In April, the company said it was ramping up production of dissolvable laundry bags and other products for the healthcare industry due to a surge in demand because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company has additional locations in Portage, La Porte, Duneland, the United Kingdom and Japan.
