A MonoSol LLC representative says an expansion in Portage is not a lock, even after the city's approval of a wide-ranging tax abatement request. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report other communities offered better incentive packages for plans that could create 150 jobs. Tuesday, the city council approved a proposal that includes a 100 percent abatement on personal property and equipment for 10 years.

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP Attorney Gino Galluzzo is representing the company and says a decision has not yet been made and did not give a timeline.

MonoSol LLC's plans include $95 million in upgrades during a three-phase effort.
