Merrillville-based MonoSol LLC is planning to add dozens of jobs in 2017. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the company, which makes water-soluble film, also has plans to fast track the completion of its $95 million facility in Portage.

The company says it plans to start construction on the next two phases of its 300,000 square-foot plant, which had its grand opening in April. The publication reports MonoSol will ramp up to six production lines in an expansion project that will begin this year.

The company says most of the new jobs will be at the Portage facility, but some will also be at its Merrillville headquarters, its original plant in Portage and its factory in LaPorte.

"We’re growing at a rapid pace on the strength of the business," said John Gornto, vice president of human resources and risk management for MonoSol. "We need more employees in all of our functional areas. We were a small organization that’s been rapidly growing, so we seek fast-moving people with an entrepreneurial spirit who are comfortable wearing multiple hats."

The publication says the company is mainly looking for employees to fill production jobs beginning at $14.80 an hour as well as salaried professionals, supervisors and managers. MonoSol is also seeking maintenance technicians who would earn $27.93 an hour.
