In a notice to the state, the alcohol distribution company, considered the largest in Indiana, says more than 90 positions will be eliminated as a result of the company closing its wine division.
Its largest wine supplier, California-based E. & J. Gallo Winery, elected to end a contract with Monarch. Earlier this year, Monarch’s long-running pursuit of regulations that would allow it to sell beer and liquor in the state ended. Gallo has a growing emphasis on liquor distribution.
Monarch says ending its wine division will lead to 76 current employees losing their jobs August 31. You can connect to the full notice to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development by clicking here.
