Indianapolis-based Model 1 Commercial Vehicles is growing its Indiana footprint with a new affiliate dealership in the Newtown County town of Kentland.
The company is not disclosing its financial investment in the dealership, but said the location opened with 16 full-time employees, and there are plans to add more jobs in the future.
Model 1, previously known as Creative Bus Sales before a 2023 rebranding, bills itself as the nation’s largest dealer of transit and commercial vehicles.
The new Model 1 Chevrolet of Kentland dealership at 308 West Seymour Street was previously the home of Mike Alsop Chevrolet. It sells new Chevy cars, trucks, SUVs, vans and light and heavy-duty trucks.
“As a family-owned business, Model 1 appreciates the importance of community,” President J.R. Sauder said in a news release. “We look forward to contributing to the Kentland business community, supporting South Newton and Benton Central schools and their activities, as well as providing great customer service to all who enter the dealership.”
A spokesperson for Model 1 told Inside INdiana Business the company plans to grow the new location’s service and parts department and “add as many people as the business demands.”
Kentland is located about 100 miles northwest of Indianapolis and about five miles from the Illinois border.
The new location joins Model 1 Ford of Warsaw as a sister dealership within Model 1 Automotive Group. Model 1 Commercial Vehicles also has locations in Elkhart and Indianapolis in Indiana, as well as 19 other states.
