Indianapolis-based MJ Insurance has hired Jacob Simon as risk transfer specialist and Ryan Miller as employee benefits consultant. They will join the company’s Indianapolis headquarters. Simon comes to MJ from a local industry competitor, bringing a wealth of knowledge and corporate experience. He holds a degree in healthcare management & policy from Indiana University and recently earned his Associate in Commercial Underwriting.

Miller previously worked at Anthem Inc. as a specialty sales executive. He has more than 10 years of experience in the employee benefits and business consulting space. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University and continues to work closely with his alma mater through the alumni association. Miller will function as part of MJ’s Japanese-owned Business practice, which helps MJ’s Japanese clients understand how to manage risk in the United States as they deal with significant differences in culture, language and laws. Miller will be responsible for consulting with clients and potential clients to understand their business needs and demonstrate advanced knowledge of the client’s industry. He will also lead the development and execution of clients’ benefit plan strategies.

Also, Emily O’Dell has been hired as risk management client executive at its Indianapolis headquarters. She most recently worked for global multinational risk management, insurance brokerage and advisory company, Willis Towers Watson. Previously as director of client relationship management, she served as a senior client adviser in corporate risk and broking. O’Dell received her Master of Business Administration and a Juris Doctor in Law from Indiana University. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Studies in Insurance & Journalism from Eastern Kentucky University.

John Becker has been named risk management consultant. He will be responsible for building relationships with key decision makers and influencers, and nurture relationships throughout the lengthy sales cycle. He will identify potential sales opportunities and consult with current and prospective clients to execute their business strategies. Becker has extensive experience in relationship cultivation, client relations and sales. In his most recent role, he instituted an advanced data and statistical analytics model to improve team outcomes. Becker received his Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Anderson University. As a student athlete on the Anderson University baseball team, Becker was named 2018 HCAC Pitcher of the Year, was a 4-year varsity letter winner and nominated team captain three years in a row. These leadership qualities have translated into his professional career.
